It has a tape length of 230 meters which enables a native data storage capacity of 50GB that can be expanded up to 130GB when compressed. It features the use of AME (Advance Metal Evaporated) technology and Sony's Diamond like Carbon technology with built in R-MIC (Remote Memory in Cassette) technology which together speed up access and enable the media to have a 30 years archival life. Helical Scan technology enables the tape cartridge to sustain a 6MB/s data transfer rate. The AIT-2 Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) format protects valuable data against accidental erasure and preventing alteration of archived data files.
