The length of the tape itself is 230 meters which enables a native data storage capacity of 50GB that can be expanded up to 130GB when compressed. It features the use of AME (Advance Metal Evaporated) technology and Sony's Diamond Like Carbon technology with built in MIC (Memory in Cassette) technology which together speed up access and enable the media to store data safely for over 30 years. With Helical Scan technology the tape cartridge can sustain a 6MB/s data transfer rate. The Sony SDX2-50C comes sealed in a transparent plastic casing which helps prevent dust and static accumulation.
